Easy One-Pan Shakshuka
Shakshuka is a flavorful Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dish made with eggs gently poached in a rich tomato and pepper sauce. This easy one-pan version is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even a light dinner and is ready in about 20 minutes.

Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, diced
1 bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1½ cups crushed tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp cumin
¼ tsp chili flakes (optional)
½ tsp salt
3–4 eggs
2 tbsp fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the Vegetables
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add onion and bell pepper and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
2️⃣ Add Garlic & Spices
Stir in garlic, paprika, cumin, and chili flakes. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
3️⃣ Add Tomato Sauce
Pour in crushed tomatoes and add salt.
Simmer for 5–6 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
4️⃣ Add the Eggs
Make small wells in the sauce and crack eggs into them.
5️⃣ Cook the Eggs
Cover the pan and cook 4–6 minutes until eggs reach your preferred doneness.
6️⃣ Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle fresh parsley or cilantro on top.
Tips
✔ Add crumbled feta cheese for a Mediterranean twist.
✔ Include spinach or zucchini for extra vegetables.
✔ Serve with warm bread, pita, or toast to scoop up the sauce.
