Smash Tacos with Creamy Garlic Sauce

Smash Tacos with Creamy Garlic Sauce

These smash chicken tacos are a game-changer! Juicy, seasoned chicken is smashed onto tortillas and cooked until crispy, creating a flavorful base. Topped with a creamy garlic sauce, these tacos are rich, satisfying, and perfect for a low-carb or keto-friendly meal. The combination of crispy edges, tender chicken, and a bold, garlicky sauce makes every bite irresistible.

Ingredients:

For the Smash Tacos:

1 lb ground chicken (turkey)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

4 medium-sized flour tortillas

1/2 cup shredded lettuce

1/2 cup diced tomatoes

1/4 cup sliced olives

1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion

1/2 cup cucumber slices

For the Creamy Garlic Sauce:

1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt or sour cream

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

Prepare the garlic sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Season the chicken: Mix the ground chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Divide into 4 equal portions and form loosely shaped balls.

Cook the smash patties: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place each ball of seasoned chicken onto the hot skillet and smash it flat with a spatula. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until crispy and cooked through.

Warm the tortillas: While the patties are cooking, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet until lightly toasted.

Assemble the tacos: Place a smash patty on each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, olives, red onion, and cucumber slices. Drizzle generously with the creamy garlic sauce.

Serve: Fold the tacos, serve with lime wedges for extra flavor, and enjoy!

Notes & Tips

Use thin chicken pieces – Pounding the chicken thin ensures even cooking and the perfect “smash” effect.

Choose the right tortilla – Use low-carb tortillas for a keto-friendly version or corn tortillas for a classic street taco feel.

Press firmly while cooking – This helps the chicken stick to the tortilla and get extra crispy.

Marinate for extra flavor – Let the chicken sit in seasonings for 30 minutes if you have time.

Serving Suggestions:

Toppings: Avocado slices, chopped cilantro, jalapeños, or a squeeze of lime for freshness.

Side Dishes: Serve with Mexican cauliflower rice, a side salad, or roasted veggies.

Dipping Sauces: Extra creamy garlic sauce or a simple salsa verde.
