Shrimp and Egg Breakfast Sandwich Recipe

Shrimp and Egg Breakfast Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

2 slices of your favorite bread (e.g., English muffin, bagel, or sandwich bread)

1/2 cup cooked shrimp (peeled and deveined)

1 large egg

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 slice of cheese (optional, cheddar or Swiss work well)

1/2 avocado, sliced (optional)

Fresh spinach or arugula (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Hot sauce or mayo (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions:

Prepare the Shrimp:

If your shrimp isn’t cooked, quickly sauté it in a pan with a little butter or olive oil over medium heat for 2–3 minutes until pink and opaque. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Cook the Egg:

In a separate pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Crack the egg into the pan and cook it to your preference (fried, scrambled, or poached). For a runny yolk, fry it sunny-side up. Season with salt and pepper.

Toast the Bread:

While the egg is cooking, toast your bread slices in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.

Assemble the Sandwich:

Once the bread is toasted, layer on the cooked shrimp, followed by the egg. If you’re adding cheese, place a slice of cheese on top of the egg while it’s still hot to melt.

Add Optional Toppings:

If desired, top with avocado slices, fresh spinach or arugula, and a drizzle of hot sauce or mayo for extra flavor.

Serve:Close the sandwich and cut it in half. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy!

 Tips

1. Use Fresh Shrimp: Fresh shrimp will bring the best flavor, but frozen shrimp work just as well just make sure to thaw them thoroughly before cooking.

2. Season the Shrimp Well: Don’t be afraid to season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and even a pinch of garlic powder or paprika for extra flavor. A squeeze of lemon juice after cooking can brighten up the taste too.

3. Cook the Egg to Your Liking: Adjust the doneness of the egg to your preference whether you like it sunny-side up with a runny yolk or scrambled for a softer texture, both work beautifully in this sandwich. If you’re worried about raw yolks, you can also cook it through completely.

4. Toast the Bread to Perfection: Toasting the bread adds crunch and prevents it from becoming soggy from the egg or shrimp. You can even butter the bread before toasting for extra flavor.

5. Add Cheese for Creaminess: A slice of melted cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or even a creamy goat cheese) can really elevate the sandwich, giving it a rich and indulgent taste.

6. Experiment with Sauces: Add a little mayo, aioli, or a drizzle of hot sauce to the bread for extra moisture and flavor. Sriracha mayo or garlic aioli are excellent choices if you like a bit of heat.

7. Toppings are Key: Don’t skip on the toppings! Sliced avocado, fresh spinach, or arugula can add a fresh crunch and creamy texture. If you like some acidity, a few slices of tomato or pickled onions would balance the richness.

8. Make It Ahead: If you’re in a rush, you can cook the shrimp and eggs ahead of time and store them in the fridge. Then just assemble your sandwich in the morning for a quick and easy breakfast.

9. Bread Choice: For a lighter option, you can use whole wheat or multi-grain bread. If you’re craving something more indulgent, try a buttery croissant or a soft brioche bun for a richer flavor.

With these tips, you’ll create a sandwich that’s not only delicious but also perfectly suited to your taste!

This breakfast sandwich is flavorful, filling, and a great way to start your day!
