Ingredients:

8 oz pasta (fettuccine, linguine, or penne)

1 bunch asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1–2″ pieces

2 tbsp olive oil

3–4 garlic cloves, minced

Zest and juice of 1 lemon

1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter version)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt & black pepper, to taste

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Cook pasta in salted water according to package directions. During the last 2–3 minutes, add asparagus to the pot. Drain and set aside.

2. Make the sauce In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.

3. Add cream, lemon zest, and juice to the skillet. Simmer 2–3 minutes on low, stirring.

4. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

5. Toss in pasta and asparagus, mixing to coat well. Add a splash of pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.

6. Serve warm, garnished with parsley or basil and extra Parmesan.

Tips:

Add grilled chicken or shrimp for protein.

Swap cream for Greek yogurt (tempered) for a lighter version.

Use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta as needed.
