Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients (for 2 sandwiches):
4 slices of bread (Italian or sourdough works great)
1cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)
12 slices of pepperoni (optional)
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
2 tablespoons butter (softened)
Optional: sliced olives, mushrooms, or green peppers
Instructions:
Prep the Bread:
Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread (this will be the outside for grilling).
Assemble the Sandwich:
On the unbuttered side, spread about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce.
Add shredded mozzarella cheese.
Layer on pepperoni or any toppings you like.
Sprinkle with a little oregano or Italian seasoning.
Top with another slice of bread, buttered side out.
Grill the Sandwich:
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 2–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cheese is melted.
Serve:
Cut in half and serve with warm pizza sauce for dipping!
Variations:
Garlic Pizza Grilled Cheese: Add a bit of garlic powder or minced garlic to the butter before spreading.
Veggie Lover’s: Add sautéed mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers.
Meat Lover’s: Use sausage crumbles or bacon bits along with pepperoni.
