Air Fryer Roasted Tomatoes

Air Fryer Roasted Tomatoes

Using fresh tomatoes is simple when you make air fryer roasted tomatoes, which just require a few ingredients and some time. Sea salt and olive oil are used to air fry juicy cherry tomatoes, enhancing their flavour and vigour. They go well with pasta dishes, dips, breads, soups, and even chicken dinners!

Ingredients:

  1. One pint of cherry or roma tomatoes
  2. ½ teaspoon sea salt
  3. one tablespoon olive oil

Directions:

  1. If your air fryer has a preheat option, set it to 400°F.
  2. Halve the tomatoes, or quarters if they are Roma tomatoes. Toss with ½ teaspoon sea salt and olive oil.
  3. Arrange in a single layer in the basket or on the cooking pan. For best results, air fried for 10 minutes, tossing halfway through (see notes below).
  4. Serve in salads, soups, dips, and stirred into spaghetti or on crusty bread.

Notes:

  • Cherry tomatoes can be substituted with roma or grape tomatoes.
  • Use normal table salt or Himalayan pink salt in place of the sea salt.
  • Don’t turn or discard tomatoes that have a few caramelised, brown bits on them. Give them a spin at the five-minute mark if you like your tomatoes unbrowned.
  • Air fryers with baskets: If your air fryer has a reserve bottom, make sure it’s totally clean before using it. Use every drop of liquid that falls under the basket from the tomatoes when they burst. Take care not to put too many tomatoes in your basket. Instead of being piled on top of one another, the tomatoes should be in a single layer.
Tray Type Air Fryers: Use the cooking pan (the one without holes) so that the tomatoes roast in their own juices.
Storing: keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 1 week or the freezer for 2 months. They can also be canned.
