Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
24 asparagus spears (trimmed; about 3 per bundle)
1/2 cup shredded gruyère, mozzarella, or cheddar cheese
2 tbsp cream cheese or Boursin (optional, for extra richness)
1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil (for tossing asparagus)
Optional garnish: sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning
Instructions:
1. Preheat and Prep:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Toss asparagus with a drizzle of olive oil, salt, and pepper.
2. Prepare Pastry:
Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into 8 equal squares.
Spread a small amount of Dijon or cream cheese in the center of each square.
3. Assemble Bundles:
Place 3 asparagus spears diagonally on each square.
Sprinkle shredded cheese over the asparagus.
Fold two opposite corners of the pastry over the center and press to seal.
Brush each bundle with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
4. Bake:
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
5. Cool and Serve:
Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Best warm or at room temperature.
