Chicken Soulvaki with Pita, Tzatziki, and Greek Salad

Chicken souvlaki is one of the highest rated and most iconic Mediterranean recipes. It’s flavorful, healthy, and balanced — juicy grilled chicken skewers, soft pita bread, cooling tzatziki, and a refreshing Greek salad. People love it because it feels like eating at a Greek taverna, but it’s easy to make at home.

Ingredients

For the Chicken Souvlaki

600g boneless chicken breast or thighs, cut into cubes

3 tbsp olive oil

Juice of 1 lemon

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

½ tsp paprika

Salt & black pepper

For the Tzatziki

1 cup Greek yogurt

½ cucumber, grated & squeezed dry

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp fresh dill or mint, chopped

Salt & pepper

For the Greek Salad

2 medium tomatoes, chopped

1 cucumber, chopped

½ red onion, thinly sliced

½ cup Kalamata olives

½ cup feta cheese, cubed or crumbled

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp red wine vinegar

1 tsp oregano

Salt & pepper

For Serving

4 pita breads, warmed

Extra lemon wedges

‍ Instructions

1. Marinate Chicken

In a bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Add chicken cubes, coat well, and marinate for at least 30 minutes (up to 4 hours).

2. Prepare Tzatziki

Mix yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, dill/mint, salt, and pepper.

Chill until ready to serve.

3. Make Greek Salad

Toss tomatoes, cucumber, onion, olives, and feta with olive oil, vinegar, oregano, salt, and pepper.

4. Cook Chicken

Thread chicken cubes onto skewers.

Grill on medium-high heat (or pan-fry) for 8–10 minutes, turning, until golden and cooked through.

5. Assemble & Sear

Serve chicken skewers with warm pita, a dollop of tzatziki, and Greek salad on the side.

Squeeze fresh lemon over for brightness.
