  1. 1 cup granulated sugar
  2. 1/2 cup water
  3. 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  4. 3-4 cloves garlic, minced

  6. 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  7. 2 tablespoons water
  8. 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)

 

Directions:

 

 

  1. In a saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and chopped red chili peppers.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Once the mixture reaches a boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until it slightly thickens and the flavors meld together.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to make a slurry.
  5. Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce while stirring continuously.
  6. Continue to simmer the sauce for another 2-3 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency.
  7. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt if needed.
  8. Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool completely.
