Ingredients for Old-fashioned chocolate and buttermilk cake

1/2 cup of butter

1/2 cup of sugar

2 eggs

2 squares (1 oz.) of unsweetened chocolate, melted

2 cups cake flour that has been mixed

1 teaspoon of salt

1 cup of milk

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 teaspoon of baking soda

1 tablespoon vinegar

Instructions

  1. Set oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Coat two 9-inch cake pans with butter and flour. Prepare baking sheet with parchment paper lining.
  2. Lighten butter by beating it in a large basin or with a stand mixer. Cream the butter and sugar together. Be sure to thoroughly mix after adding each egg. Incorporate the melted chocolate.
