Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water

  • 1 cup plum jam (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
    • Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture.
    • Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to incorporate the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Gradually add cold water and mix until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.
    • Form the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Roll out the Dough:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8-inch thickness.
  3. Cut and Fill:
    • Using a round cookie cutter or a glass, cut out circles from the rolled-out dough.
    • Place a teaspoon of plum jam in the center of each circle.
  4. Seal and Shape:
    • Fold the dough over the jam to create a half-moon shape.
    • Use a fork to crimp the edges and seal the pastries.
  5. Bake:
    • Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  6. Cool and Dust:
    • Allow the pastries to cool on a wire rack.
    • Once cooled, dust the pastries with powdered sugar.
