Slow Cooker Goulash

PREP TIME: 15 minutes
COOK TIME: 4 hours
TOTAL TIME: 4 hours 15 minutes

Ingredients For Slow Cooker Goulash

  1. One pound of ground beef
  2. One little yellow onion, chopped
  3. Two tsp finely chopped jarred garlic
  4. One chopped and seeded green bell pepper
  5. Two cups of spaghetti sauce with tomatoes and basil
  6. Eight ounces of tomato sauce
  7. Diced tomatoes, 15 ounces
  8. one cup of water
  9. One tsp of seasoning with herbs and garlic
  10. Noodles, six ounces

Instructions For Slow Cooker Goulash

  1. Add browned ground beef to the slow cooker.
Mix in the remaining ingredients, with the exception of the pasta, which we will add last.
  2. You can simmer on low for up to 8 hours. Cover and cook for 2-3 hours on high or 4-6 hours on low.
  3. To prevent the pasta from overcooking and becoming too mushy, turn the slow cooker to high and add the pasta in the last 30 to 45 minutes. Be ready to eat as soon as the pasta is done.

Notes:

  • I used macaroni noodles, but you could probably use another type of pasta, like penne. There may be variations in cooking times.

To prepare ahead of time:

  • Cook, cool, and then add ground beef to a freezer-safe bag or container.
  • Add everything else, excluding the pasta.
Keep cold for up to three days or frozen for up to three months.
  • Before cooking, completely thaw
  • Should you possess any leftovers:
  • Once cooled, refrigerate for up to three days in the refrigerator in airtight containers.
