1 tbsp finely chopped red onion
1–2 tbsp chopped pickled jalapeños (adjust to heat preference)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt & black pepper, to taste

2 slices of bread (sourdough, rye, whole grain, or your choice)
oil spray, for toasting
Optional Add-ins:
Sliced tomato
Fresh cilantro or parsley
A few dashes of hot sauce
Instructions:
1. Make the Tuna Filling
In a bowl, combine drained tuna, mayo, mustard (if using), red onion, jalapeños, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in shredded cheese.
2. Assemble the Melt
Spread the tuna mixture evenly on one slice of bread. Top with optional tomato slices or more jalapeños. Place the second slice on top to form a sandwich.

Stovetop method: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Butter the outside of both bread slices. Grill 3–4 minutes per side, pressing down gently, until golden and cheese is melted.
-
Air fryer: Spray both sides lightly with oil and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 5–6 minutes, flipping halfway.
4. Serve Hot
Slice in half and serve with a crisp pickle, salad, or soup.
