This dish is a flavorful and quick-to-make Thai-inspired recipe featuring tender chicken, crisp green beans, and a savory sauce. The dish balances salty, sweet, and spicy flavors, making it a perfect addition to a weeknight dinner or a casual lunch. The vibrant green beans add a refreshing crunch and nutritional value.
Ingredients:
1 pound (450 g) chicken breast, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 cups green beans, trimmed
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 small red chili, thinly sliced (optional, for heat)
1 tablespoon fish sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sugar (Stevia)
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/4 cup fresh Thai basil leaves, loosely packed (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Ingredients:
Thinly slice the chicken breast into bite-sized strips.
Wash and trim the green beans.
2. Heat the Pan:
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
3. Cook the Chicken:
Add the sliced chicken to the hot pan and stir-fry for 5–6 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
4. Saute Aromatics:
In the same pan, add the minced garlic and sliced chili. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Cook the Green Beans:
Add the green beans to the pan and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes, until they are tender but still crisp.
6. Combine the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and water. Pour the mixture over the green beans. Stir to coat.
7. Add the Chicken Back:
Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss everything together. Stir-fry for another 2–3 minutes to ensure the chicken is well-coated in the sauce.
8. Final Touch:
Remove from heat and stir in the lime juice and Thai basil leaves (if using).
9. Serve:
Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Tips for Cooking:
Prep Ingredients Beforehand: Thai stir-fries cook quickly, so have all your ingredients chopped and ready.
Control the Heat: Adjust the chili level to suit your taste. You can add more chili or use mild alternatives.
Don’t Overcook the Beans: Stir-fry the beans until just tender to keep them crisp.
High Heat for Stir-Frying: Use high heat to ensure the chicken and beans cook quickly without losing texture.
Balance the Sauce: Taste the sauce before adding it to the stir fry. Adjust the fish sauce, sugar, or lime for the perfect balance.
Servings:
Serves: 4 people
Serving Size: 1 portion with rice (~1 cup stir fry with ½ cup rice)
