Creamy Spinach Recipe

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

500g (about 1 lb) fresh spinach (or 300g frozen spinach, thawed and drained)

1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter version)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

1 tablespoon cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)

Instructions:

Prep the spinach

If using fresh spinach, wash and roughly chop.

If using frozen spinach, thaw and squeeze out as much water as possible.

Sauté aromatics

In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the garlic (and onion if using), sauté for 2–3 minutes until soft and fragrant.

Cook the spinach

Add the spinach and cook until wilted (if fresh) or heated through (if frozen), about 3–5 minutes.

Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Make it creamy

Lower the heat to medium-low.

Pour in the cream and stir well.

Add Parmesan, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Let simmer gently for 3–4 minutes

Stir in cream cheese if using, until melted and smooth.

Taste and adjust

Taste and adjust seasoning.

Simmer until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

Serve

Serve warm as a side dish or topping over pasta, chicken, or baked potatoes.

Optional Add-ins:

Cooked mushrooms

Crispy bacon or pancetta

Crushed red pepper for heat

Lemon zest for brightness
