Air Fryer Egg Rolls
It only takes a small amount of time to make crispy, crunchy egg rolls in the air fryer compared to ordering delivery. Make hassle-free Chinese takeaway at home!
One of my favourite hearty appetisers to make is homemade egg rolls, but to pan fried the egg rolls, you usually need a couple cups of oil.

Directions For Air Fryer Egg Rolls
Cook the filling:
Place the ground chicken and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. As the meat cooks, break it up with a wooden spoon or spatula. Simmer for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the meat is well cooked.
Add the cabbage, scallions, carrot, ginger, and garlic. Simmer the cabbage for a further three to four minutes, stirring frequently, or until it wilts down and becomes soft. After adding soy sauce and rice wine vinegar to the filling, remove from the heat and allow it to cool. (This filling can be prepared ahead of time.)
To assemble the egg rolls:
- place one egg roll wrapper, pointed end of square facing you (as in a diamond shape), on a dry surface. In the centre of the wrapper, place roughly 1/4 cup of the egg roll filling mixture.
- Run your fingers along the edges of the wrapper after dipping them in water. Next, begin rolling the egg roll away from you by folding the wrapper’s edges over the centre to create a tight cylinder. Transfer to a platter and continue till the filling runs out. Make sure you have a minimum of twelve egg rolls.
To air cook the egg rolls:
- put them in the air fryer’s basket. Lightly brush or spray them with oil. As many as possible should be added, being careful not to stack the egg rolls on top of one another. They require air to flow around them. Lightly coat the egg rolls in oil.
- After inserting the basket, set the air fryer’s temperature to 350°F. After 6 to 7 minutes of cooking, turn the egg rolls over, spritz or brush the bottom side with oil again, and cook for an additional 4 to 5 minutes.
When done, the egg rolls need to be crispy and golden brown! Serve right away.
Optional Pan Fry Method:
You can still cook these egg rolls the old-fashioned way if you don’t have access to an air fryer. To a medium skillet with high walls, add enough oil so that the oil comes up the side of the skillet by about 1/2 inch. Heat the oil to 350°F on medium-high heat. When golden brown, add the egg rolls and fried for 3–4 minutes, then flip and continue to fry for an additional 3–4 minutes. Take them out, allow them to cool on some paper towels, and then drain.
