2 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp red chili flakes (optional)
Zest of 1 lemon
2 tbsp lemon juice (about half a lemon)
50g (½ cup) grated Parmesan cheese (or vegan alternative)
¼ cup pasta water (reserved)
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Prep the asparagus:
Rinse and trim the woody ends.
Cut into 1–2 inch pieces on a diagonal.
2. Cook the pasta:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook the pasta until al dente (follow package instructions).
Reserve ¼ cup of pasta water, then drain the rest.
3. Sauté the asparagus:
While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Add garlic and chili flakes. Cook 30 seconds until fragrant.

4. Combine and toss:
Add the cooked pasta to the pan.
