Ingredients:
- One pound of sliced into ¼-inch sticks of carrots
- one tablespoon of avocado or olive oil
- one teaspoon of salt, adjusted to taste
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon crushed black pepper
Directions:
- Peel and wash the carrots. Cut each section in half width wise after cutting them in half lengthwise to produce fries. Section each piece into sticks measuring ¼ inch.
- In a sizeable mixing basin, combine carrot fries with oil, salt, pepper, and paprika, or your favourite seasoning, and toss until the carrots are well coated.
- For two minutes, preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Arrange the carrots in one layer. It might be necessary to divide your carrots into two or three batches, depending on how big your air fryer is. Simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, rotating the basket halfway through. Return them for a further two to three minutes if you’d like them crispier.
- Warm them up and provide some Sriracha mayo or fry sauce on the side for dipping.
Oven Baked Carrots:
- Alternatively, these fries can be baked in the oven. Turn the oven on to 425°F. Arrange the carrot fries on a baking sheet covered with aluminium foil in a single layer. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway, at about 12 minutes.
Notes:
- Personalise the seasoning: You can spice them up to go with your dinner by using the above-mentioned tips.
- Best results: Fresh air-fried or baked carrot fries have the most flavour. They can be cooked right before serving, but you can prepare and season them ahead of time.
- Oven vs. Air Fryer: Either way is equally hands-off, but the fries come out crispier in the air fryer, so go with your favourite cooking technique.
How to Store:
Any leftovers can be refrigerated for three to four days in an airtight container. Just air fry at 350°F for two minutes to reheat.
These fries won’t crisp up well when reheated and will go soggy if you freeze them.
