Crab and Shrimp seafood bisque recipe

Seafood bisque is a luxurious and creamy soup made with a variety of seafood, typically including crab and shrimp. Here’s a delicious recipe for crab and shrimp seafood bisque:

INGREDIENTS:

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

4 cups seafood stock or fish stock

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup dry sherry

1/2 pound cooked crab meat

1/2 pound cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS:

Prepare the Roux:

In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and stir continuously to make a roux. Cook the roux for 2-3 minutes, until it turns a light golden color.

Cook the Aromatics:

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot with the roux. Cook, stirring frequently, until the onions are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the Stock and Cream:

Gradually pour in the seafood stock while stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Stir in the heavy cream and dry sherry. Let the mixture simmer gently for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Add the Seafood and Seasonings:

Add the cooked crab meat and shrimp to the pot.

Stir in the tomato paste, paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer the bisque for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the seafood is heated through and the flavors are well combined.

Blend (Optional):

For a smoother texture, you can use an immersion blender to partially blend the soup, leaving some chunks of seafood intact. Alternatively, you can transfer a portion of the soup to a blender and blend until smooth, then return it to the pot.

Adjust Seasoning and Serve:

Taste the bisque and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if necessary.

Ladle the hot bisque into serving bowls and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

Serve the crab and shrimp seafood bisque hot, accompanied by crusty bread or oyster crackers.

Enjoy the rich and flavorful goodness of this homemade seafood bisque!
