Ingredients
For the Chicken Shawarma
500g chicken breast or thighs, thinly sliced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp ground coriander
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp lemon juice
For the Tangy Vegetables
½ cup shredded cabbage or lettuce
½ cup grated carrot
½ cup sliced cucumber
½ cup sliced tomatoes
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp olive oil
Salt & pepper, to taste
For the Yogurt Sauce
½ cup Greek yogurt
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp olive oil
Salt & pepper, to taste
For the Wraps
4 flatbreads, pita, or whole wheat tortillas
Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
Instructions
1. Marinate and Cook the Chicken
In a bowl, combine chicken with olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, coriander, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
Let marinate for 10 minutes (or up to 30 minutes for more flavor).
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook chicken 5–7 minutes until golden and cooked through. Set aside.
2. Prepare the Tangy Vegetables
In a bowl, combine cabbage, carrot, cucumber, and tomatoes.
Toss with olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
3. Make the Yogurt Sauce
Mix Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Adjust seasoning to taste.
4. Assemble the Wraps
Lay a flatbread or tortilla on a plate.
Spread 1–2 tbsp yogurt sauce in the center.
Add a portion of cooked chicken.
Top with tangy vegetables and fresh herbs.
Roll tightly and serve immediately.
