Golden Herbed Mushroom Tarts

Golden Herbed Mushroom Tarts

Indulge in the earthy and aromatic goodness of our Golden Herbed Mushroom Tarts! These savory pastries combine the rich flavor of mushrooms, the brightness of fresh herbs, and the flakiness of puff pastry, all in one delicious and elegant tart.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  2. 1 tbsp olive oil
  3. 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  4. 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  5. 4 oz herbed goat cheese, softened
  6. 1/4 cup heavy cream
  7. 1 egg
  8. 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  9. 1 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  10. Salt and pepper, to taste
  11. Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F.

Prepare the Pastry:
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut into circles that fit your tart pans or a muffin tin. Place the pastry into the pans and prick the bottoms with a fork.

Caramelize the Shallots and Mushrooms:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced shallots and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until caramelized. Add the mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes until tender. Season with salt and pepper.

Prepare the Filling:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together herbed goat cheese, heavy cream, and egg until smooth. Stir in fresh thyme and rosemary.

Assemble the Tarts:
Evenly distribute the mushroom and shallot mixture among the prepared tart shells. Pour the goat cheese mixture over the top.

Bake the Tarts:
Place the tarts in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and the filling is set.

Serve:
Allow the tarts to cool slightly before removing them from the pans. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm or at room temperature.

Tips:

1. Use a variety of mushrooms: Try using a combination of cremini, shiitake, and button mushrooms for a rich and earthy flavor.
2. Don’t overmix the filling: Mix the mushroom and herb filling just until combined to prevent a dense and tough texture.
3. Use fresh and high-quality herbs: Fresh thyme, rosemary, and parsley add a bright and aromatic flavor to the tarts.
4. Make ahead for a party: Prepare the tarts ahead of time and freeze until ready to bake for a stress-free party appetizer.
5. Experiment with different cheeses: Try using different cheeses, such as goat cheese or feta, for a unique and tangy flavor.
