Grilled BBQ Tofu Steaks 

Thick tofu steaks marinated in a smoky BBQ sauce, then grilled until charred and caramelized. High-protein, hearty, and crowd-pleasing.

Ingredients

Tofu Steaks

400–450 g extra-firm tofu, pressed

1 tbsp olive oil

BBQ Marinade

¼ cup BBQ sauce (vegan)

1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

1 tbsp maple syrup

1 tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp black pepper

1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Optional Extras

Chili flakes

Fresh thyme or rosemary

Instructions

Prep Tofu

Slice tofu into 1.5–2 cm thick steaks

Pat dry thoroughly

Marinate

Mix all marinade ingredients

Brush generously on both sides of tofu

Rest 20–30 minutes (or cook immediately if short on time)

Grill

Heat grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high

Lightly oil grates

Grill tofu 4–5 minutes per side, basting with extra marinade

Serve

Rest 2 minutes, then serve hot

Don’t move tofu too early — let grill marks form

Extra marinade = juicier steaks

Finish with lemon squeeze or vegan garlic butter
