What’s in it

1 small onion, chopped up small

150g of lean pork mince (less than 5 percent fat)

Six frozen and skinned Slimming World Free Food pork sausages

1 small Cox’s apple, cored, peeled, and cut into small pieces

1 tablespoon of chopped fresh sage

1 medium egg, whisked

Two 39-gram filo sheets

Cooking spray low in calories

 Instructions

To preheat your oven, set it to 200 degrees Celsius (fan) 180 degrees Celsius (gas) 6. In a bowl, combine the chopped onion, pork mince, sausage meat, apple, and sage with the majority of the beaten egg. Lightly season, then combine everything thoroughly.

The mixture should be shaped into two long sausages, each of which should be exactly the same length as one of your sheets of filo dough.

Place one sheet of filo pastry on a work surface, and coat the sheet gently with a tiny bit of low-calorie cooking spray. Place the other sheet on top of the first one. Create two strips by cutting the whole thing in half lengthwise.

Place a long sausage down the edge of one side of each strip of pastry, then brush the other long edge of each strip with the remaining beaten egg. Roll up each sausage in the filo pastry, beginning with the edge that does not contain egg, and press the edge that has been coated with egg to create a good seal. Divide each long roll into 12 pieces of the same size using a crosscut.

Place the sausage rolls on a baking sheet that is non-stick and spray with a little low-calorie cooking spray. Leave about 5 centimeters of space between each roll. Bake the sausage rolls for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until they are crisp and golden brown, and then coat the top of each one with a little bit extra low-calorie cooking spray. To be served hot.
