Spicy Sesame Tofu 

Crispy pan-fried tofu coated in a spicy, slightly sweet sesame-soy glaze. Perfect with rice, noodles, or in a bowl.

Ingredients

Crispy Tofu

400 g extra-firm tofu, pressed & cubed

2 tbsp cornflour (cornstarch)

1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

1 tbsp sesame oil

½ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp black pepper

Spicy Sesame Sauce

2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

1½ tbsp maple syrup or honey-style vegan syrup

1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice

1–2 tsp chili garlic sauce or sriracha

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tsp cornflour + 2 tbsp water

Garnish

Sesame seeds

Sliced green onions

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare Tofu

Toss tofu with soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder & pepper

Coat evenly with cornflour

2️⃣ Cook Tofu

Heat pan with a little oil over medium-high heat

Fry tofu 6–8 minutes, turning until golden and crispy

Remove and set aside

3️⃣ Make Sauce

In same pan, add all sauce ingredients (except slurry)

Bring to gentle simmer

Add slurry and stir until thick & glossy

4️⃣ Combine

Add tofu back to pan

Toss to coat evenly in sticky sauce

5️⃣ Serve

Garnish with sesame seeds & green onions

Tips

Press tofu well for maximum crispiness

Use low heat when sauce thickens to avoid burning

Add broccoli or bell peppers for a full meal
