Cajun Surf & Turf T-Bone with Creamy Shrimp Rice & Southern Green Beans
Ohhh this plate is dangerous in the best way. We’re talking a juicy, well-seasoned T-bone steak dripping in a buttery Cajun shrimp gravy, a fluffy dome of white rice soaking up that same golden sauce, and tender Southern-style green beans to balance out all that richness. This is luxury comfort food with full flavor and full swagger.
For the T-Bone Steak:
1 T-bone steak
1 tbsp or olive oil
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
For the Cajun Shrimp Sauce:
½ lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
1 tbsp butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup diced bell peppers (red & green)
¼ cup chicken broth or seafood stock
1–2 tbsp heavy cream (optional for richness)
½ tsp Cajun seasoning
Parsley for garnish
Pinch of salt and pepper
For the Rice:
1 cup cooked jasmine or long-grain rice
1 tbsp butter
Pinch of parsley
For the Green Beans:
1 cup cooked green beans
1 tsp butter
Pinch of salt, pepper, garlic powder
1️⃣ Cook the Steak
Pat steak dry and season generously on both sides.
Heat butter/oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat.
Sear steak 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare, longer for more doneness.
Let it rest — don’t skip this!
2️⃣ Make the Cajun Shrimp Sauce
In the same skillet, melt butter.
Add garlic + bell peppers and sauté until soft.
Add shrimp and cook until pink (about 2 minutes).
Pour in broth and simmer slightly.
Add cream if you want it extra silky.
Season, stir, and finish with parsley.
3️⃣ Build the Plate
Mold buttered rice into a dome.
Spoon shrimp sauce on top.
Slice the steak or serve whole, topped with more sauce.
Add the seasoned green beans on the side.
