Ingredients For Air Fryer Beignets:
- Frying spray with no stick
- ½ cup flour for all purposes
- Half a cup of white sugar
- Two tsp of white sugar
- Two tsp water
- One huge egg, divided and separated
- 1/2 tsp melted butter
- One-half teaspoon of baking powder
- One-half teaspoon of vanilla extract
- One pinch of salt
- Two tablespoons of powdered sugar, or according to taste
Instructions For Air Fryer Beignets:
- Set an air fryer to 370 degrees Fahrenheit, or 185 degrees Celsius. Apply nonstick spray to a silicone egg bite mould with seven cavities.
- In a sizable basin, thoroughly mix flour, 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons white sugar, water, egg yolk, melted butter, baking powder, vanilla, and salt.
- Using an electric mixer set to medium speed, beat the egg white in a small bowl until soft peaks form. Mix the egg white into the mixture. Using a small-hinged ice cream scoop, transfer batter into the prepared mould. Insert the mould into the basket of the air fryer
- Fry for ten minutes in the preheated air fryer. Carefully remove the mould from the basket, pop the beignets out, and turn them over onto a round piece of parchment paper.
- Back in the air fryer basket, place the parchment circle containing the beignets. Cook for a further four minutes. Take out the beignets from the air fryer basket and give them a dusting of powdered sugar.
Expert Advice:
- In the absence of a stand mixer, you can mix the dough by hand using a wooden spoon and kneading it by hand.
- Give the dough at least an hour to rest so that it can rise correctly; however, depending on the local climate and altitude, this may take longer.
- Cut into standard rectangle shapes with a pizza cutter or cookie cutter.
- Keep the dough pieces apart in the air fryer.
- Melted butter should be brushed over the cooked air fryer beignets to help the powdered sugar stick and to give them a beautiful brown appearance.
- If necessary, cook the beignets in batches in the air fryer.
- To prevent the dough from drying out, cover it with plastic wrap in between batches.
- The beignets might get mushy if they are stacked.
- Beignets from an air fryer can be cooked in batches; to keep them warm, arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet and place them in the oven on low. Continue airfrying the remaining beignets.
- Beignets from the air fryer should cool before being dusted with powdered sugar.
