Air Fryer Drumsticks

Air Fryer Drumsticks

Although chicken thighs have recently received a lot of well-deserved attention, we think the unassuming Air Fryer Drumsticks deserves equal attention. When a dish is inherently portable, which is uncommon, you can be sure it will become one of our favourites.

Ingredients For Air Fryer Drumsticks:

  1. 2 pounds (about 8) of chicken drumsticks
  2. Six tablespoons of soy sauce
  3. Three grated garlic cloves
  4. 1 1/2 tsp freshly grated ginger
  5. 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon or Chinese five-spice tsp honey
  6. 2/3 c. Coke
  7. Toasted sesame seeds, sliced scallions, and fresh cilantro leaves are used to garnish.

Instructions For Air Fryer Drumsticks:

  • Mix the soy sauce, honey, five spice, ginger, and garlic in a big basin. Stir in the drumsticks to coat. Place a plastic wrap over it and put it in the refrigerator.
  • Turn the chicken halfway during the minimum of 30 minutes and maximum of 1 hour of marinating time.
  • Heat the air fryer to 380 degrees. If needed, put the drumsticks to the air fryer in batches, being careful not to pack the basket too full, and save the leftover marinade. For ten minutes, air fry.
  • Move the marinade to a small saucepan, add the Coca-cola, and heat over high heat while the chicken cooks. Heat till boiling. then lower the heat to medium-low and simmer for two to three minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and covered the back of a spoon. Move the sauce into a big, heat-resistant bowl.
  • Apply a reduced sauce all over the drumsticks, turn them over, and continue air-frying for a further 7 to 10 minutes, or until an instant thermometer reads 165º.
  • Coat the cooked drumsticks by tossing them in the sauce. Serve with sesame seeds, cilantro, and onions on top.

This meal is loosely inspired by two Chinese dishes: Coca-Cola wings, which were popular in China during the 1980s and 1990s, and fragrant, umami-filled Cantonese soy sauce chicken. You will have soy-marinated chicken that is slightly crunchy and perfectly soft in the air fryer, as opposed to poaching the chicken as is customary in soy sauce chicken. Next, combine the remaining marinade with a small amount of Coke to create a slightly sweet and sticky sauce.
To create a filling and substantial dinner that will quickly become a weekly ritual, try pairing these with some nicely cooked white rice or a garlicky green salad.
