I’ve been seeing apple dumplings on sale at nearby bakeries for years, but I was never tempted to buy them. Although the concept of them seemed intriguing, what I saw was dull and lifeless, so I couldn’t understand the appeal. And my intuition was right the few of times I bought them to try. However, this year I made the decision to just make my own as my conception of what they ought to be differed greatly from what I was discovering.
