350 g (12.3 oz) strained tomatoes
50 g (1.8 oz) cream or whipped cream
550 g (1.2 lbs) minced meat
320 g (11.3 oz) carrots (weighed peeled)
320 g (11.3 oz) kohlrabi (weighed peeled)
2 medium onions
150 g (5.3 oz) Gouda cheese, grated
A little oregano
2 tsp olive oil for frying
Salt and pepper, to taste
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preparing the Vegetables
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) with fan.
Cut and Cook Vegetables: Peel and cut the carrots and kohlrabi into bite-sized pieces. Cook them in boiling water for about 8 minutes until they are tender but still firm. Drain and set aside.
Preparing the Minced Meat Sauce
Chop and Fry Onions: Chop the onions finely. Heat 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent.
Cook Minced Meat: Add the minced meat to the pan with the onions. Cook until the meat is almost done, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
Add Tomatoes and Cream: Pour in the strained tomatoes and cream. Let the mixture simmer for a few more minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and a little oregano to taste.
