This calzone, made with air-fried chicken parmesan, is sure to please any fan of chicken parmesan. The cheese and marinara sauce provide traditional flavours, while the air-fried chicken makes it crunchy and delectable. The best part is that this calzone comes together quickly and is an ideal snack or meal. Try it out!
Ingredients:
- One pound of pizza dough
- Frozen half-pound chicken tenders with crispy coating
- eight ounces of shredded mozzarella cheese
- one-third cup grated Parmesan cheese
- One-cup worth of pizza sauce
- Two teaspoon of unsalted, melted butter
- Two to three tsp all-purpose flour
Instructions:
- Depending on the size of your air fryer, lay out your dough into a circle that is 10 to 12 inches in diameter on a floured surface.
- Spread your pizza sauce (only ½ of it; save the other half), then cover with all of the chicken tenders and ½ of the cheeses on one side of the dough. To keep your dough closed, fold it in half and crimp the seam.
- Brush the melted butter over the calzone using a pastry brush. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, then cook for ten to fifteen minutes. halfway through the cooking process, flip.
- Once the calzone is almost done, drizzle it with pizza sauce and top with the remaining shreds of cheese.
Add some fresh herb garnish. - Cut into slices and serve with extra pizza sauce.
How to Use an Air Fryer to Reheat Calzones:
It can be difficult to reheat calzones. While you don’t want them to become very crispy or dry, you also don’t want the middle to be cold and doughy. So how should calzones be reheated? Obviously with an air fryer! This is the method for doing it.
- Put the chilled calzone into the basket of the air fryer.
- Using the air fryer function, set the temperature to 330 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cook the calzone for 5 to 8 minutes, or until it is thoroughly heated through. You can brush with melted butter for extra flavour. This will help re-crisp the outside of your calzone and moisten it up.
