Turkey Burgers

Turkey Burgers

Juicy and flavorful, turkey burgers are a healthier alternative to traditional beef patties. Made with lean ground turkey and seasoned with herbs and spices, these burgers are moist and delicious. They’re perfect for grilling, pan-frying, or baking, and can be served with your favorite toppings on a whole-grain bun, lettuce wrap, or alongside a fresh salad

Ingredients:

3 lbs ground turkey (93% lean)

2 large eggs

2 slices of bread (for breadcrumbs)

120 ml whole milk (1/2 cup) — or alternative milk if preferred

1 Vidalia onion (about 200 g), finely chopped

4 garlic cloves, minced

50 g grated Parmesan cheese (about 1/2 cup)

2 tablespoons fresh minced parsley (about 8 g)

1 tablespoon fresh minced dill weed (about 3 g)

Fresh cracked black pepper, to taste

Salt, to taste

Instructions:

Prepare breadcrumbs:

Tear the 2 slices of bread into small pieces and pulse them in a food processor until fine crumbs form. If you don’t have a food processor, simply tear them up into small pieces and crush with your hands.

Mix the turkey burger ingredients:

In a large mixing bowl, add the ground turkey, eggs, breadcrumbs, whole milk, chopped Vidalia onion, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, minced parsley, and minced dill. Season generously with fresh cracked black pepper and salt to taste

Form the patties:

Using your hands, mix the ingredients thoroughly. Once well combined, divide the mixture into 6 to 8 portions and form each into a patty, about 1 inch thick.

Cook the burgers:

Heat a large skillet or grill over medium heat. Lightly oil the surface with a little cooking spray or olive oil. Place the patties on the skillet or grill and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, until the burgers are fully cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Serve:

Serve the turkey burgers on buns with your favorite toppings or alongside vegetables for a healthy meal. Enjoy!

Notes:

Lean Meat Matters: Use 93% lean ground turkey to keep the burgers juicy without being too fatty.

Binding Ingredients: Add breadcrumbs, oats, or almond flour to help hold the patties together.

Moisture Boosters: Mix in ingredients like grated zucchini, onions, or a splash of Worcestershire sauce to enhance flavor and moisture.

Avoid Overmixing: Gently combine ingredients to prevent tough patties.

Chill Before Cooking: Let the patties rest in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to firm up before cooking

Tips:

Cook to Perfection: Turkey burgers should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to ensure they are fully cooked.

Prevent Sticking: Use a non-stick skillet or lightly oil the grill grates to prevent the patties from sticking.

Season Generously: Don’t shy away from seasonings like garlic, paprika, cumin, or fresh herbs.

Toppings Make a Difference: Pair with avocado, caramelized onions, or a dollop of Greek yogurt for added flavor and texture.

Freeze for Later: Shape uncooked patties and freeze individually for quick, easy meals.

This recipe provides delicious and juicy turkey burgers perfect for a meal with family and friends.
