ultimate lasagna Bolognese recipe
Ingredients:
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound (450 grams) ground bee
- 1 pound (450 grams) ground pork
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
- 1 can (28 ounces/800 grams) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
- Until the noodles in the lasagna are al dente, cook them in accordance with the directions on the box. Drain, then keep away for later use.
- The ground beef and pork should be browned over medium heat in a large pan or Dutch oven until the pink colour is no longer visible. To get rid of any extra fat.
- After the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery have been chopped, add them to the skillet. To ensure that the veggies are cooked through and the onion becomes translucent, sauté them.
- The crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef or vegetable broth, and red wine (if used) should be stirred in at this point. Combine thoroughly.
- Incorporate the dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and pepper into the mixture. It is recommended to simmer the sauce for around twenty minutes in order to enable the flavours to combine. If necessary, adjust the spice to taste.
- Combine the ricotta cheese with half of the grated Parmesan cheese in a basin that is separate from the second bowl. Combine thoroughly.
- The first step in putting together the lasagna is to apply a thin layer of the Bolognese sauce over the bottom of a baking dish that is 9 inches by 13 inches.
- On top of the sauce, arrange three lasagna noodles in a slightly overlapping pattern. An initial layer of the Bolognese sauce should be spread over the noodles, then a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture should be applied, and finally, mozzarella cheese should be sprinkled on top.
- A layer of Bolognese sauce should be placed on top of the last layer after you have completed the layers with the other components.
- Add the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses and sprinkle them over top.
