AIR FRYER CALAMARI

Tender and crunchy textures are expertly combined in air-fried calamari. A simple yet delectable homemade appetiser, air-fried calamari is perfect for entertaining or for anyone who loves seafood.

COMPOSITION
- One pound of patted-dry calamari rings
- one squeezed lemon (three tablespoons of lemon juice)
- ½ cup flour for all purposes
- one tsp powdered garlic
- ¼ cup milk and two egg whites
- Two cups breadcrumbs (panko)
- One and a half tsp kosher salt
- One-and-a-half teaspoons of ground pepper
INSTRUCTIONS:
- After adding lemon juice to a bowl, place the squid rings and let them marinate for at least half an hour. Using a colander, drain.
- In a shallow basin, combine the flour and garlic powder. In a another bowl, whisk together the egg whites and milk. In a third bowl, mix together the panko breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the calamari rings in three different ways: flour, egg mixture, and panko breadcrumb mixture.
- Set the temperature of your air fryer to 400°F.
- Make sure that no two rings overlap when placing them in the air fryer’s basket. Work in groups if necessary. Apply nonstick cooking spray to the tops.
- Simmer for four minutes. Once the rings are fully cooked and opaque within, flip them over, spritz them with a little oil, and continue cooking for a further 3 minutes (7 minutes total).
NOTES;
CALAMARI REHEATER IN THE AIR FRYER:
- Set your air fryer’s temperature to 400 degrees.
- Cook the calamari rings in the basket for five minutes, or until they are well heated.
HOW TO USE AN AIR FRYER TO MAKE FROZEN CARAMARI:
- Set your air fryer’s temperature to 400 degrees.
- Put the frozen calamari rings in the air fryer and heat them through, turning them over approximately halfway through, for ten minutes.
