My mother used to prepare oatmeal virtually every morning when I was a child, especially in the winter. She used brown sugar to sweeten it, lots of juicy raisins, and cinnamon for flavor. Her oatmeal is one of my all-time favorite morning meals. There is nothing more reassuring and cozy.
